The Daintree Rainforest is named after the Australian photographer and geologist, Richard Daintree. The forest is located on Queensland's north east coast. The region comprises of dense tropical rainforests and is amongst Australia's most prominent nature attractions.
The rainforest is home to marsupials, frogs, reptiles, bats, and butterflies. Interestingly, more than 12,000 species of insects alone are found in the pristine forests, which are drained by the Daintree river. The forests’ natural beauty is complemented by the coastal scenery, which comprises of exotic white sand beaches. Another marvel of the region are the reefs just offshore, which make this place a rare natural wonder. The forests were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015.
