The Taronga Zoo is situated in Mosman in New South Wales on the shores of the Sydney Harbour.  The word 'Taronga' is of Aboriginal origins and means 'beautiful view'. The Zoo was opened in the year 1916 and is a prominent tourist attraction. Spread across an area of 69 acres, the zoo is divided into eight zoogeographic regions.

Of the 69 acres, 28 hectares of the zoo house 4,000 animals of 350 species. The Zoo also comprises of a cafe, an information centre, and a zoo shop where visitors can purchase souvenirs. The Gondola Lift allows visitors to enjoy spectacular views of the Sydney Harbour and the Zoo.
